Errol Liverpool, Ph. D. is the president of Clear Choices Counseling Services since 1999. He obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Wayne State University in 2001
Prior to creating “Clear Choices” in 1999, Dr. Liverpool worked as a contractual psychotherapist in the Metro Detroit area. Clear Choices Counseling Services is the brainchild of Dr. Liverpool and was developed to address the unique behavioral health needs of the residents of the Detroit Metro and surrounding areas, and is a natural outgrowth of Dr. Liverpool’s lifetime vision of improving the lives of others.
His passion is in working with families to reach their full potential. His area of specialty is Marriage and Family, and has won critical acclaim for the premarital counseling program he developed several years ago. His objective is to promote behavioral, emotional, mental and spiritual health. He feels “called” to address the challenging needs of the children in these families.
Prior to moving to Michigan, Dr. Liverpool lived and worked in the pastoral and counseling field in Toronto, Canada for seventeen years. Dr. Liverpool also serves an adjunct professor at Wayne State University in the department of Sociology.
He enjoys playing soccer, and when it comes time for rest and recreation, he loves to travel to wherever there is sun, sand, beach and fellowship with his family, co-workers, and friends.
Spencer Ballard, D.O., is the Medical Director of Clear Choices Counseling Services. He is a Board certified osteopathic psychiatrist with a background in family medicine.
Dr. Ballard values the osteopathic philosophy of treating the whole person in his approach to the often complex issues facing the patients and families who seek his assistance.
He graduated with a D.O. degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1972. He completed his training in psychiatry at Michigan Health Care Corporation in 1988 and became Board certified in Psychiatry by the American College of Neuropsychiatry in 1991. He has devoted his professional practice to addressing the needs of residents of the inner cities of central and southeast Michigan. His greatest area of interest is in the recognition and treatment of mood disorders.
Dr. Ballard’s hobbies are drawing and painting and dreaming about improving his golf game. Whenever possible he and his wife love to run away to Jamaica for a few days of sun, salt and sand.
Fariha Qadir, M.D., has been one the staff psychiatrists at Clear Choices Counseling Services since 2002.
She completed her medical school psychiatry residency at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center in 1997. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and treats a broad range of adult patients including anxiety, depression and bipolar disorders has been in practice since 1998.
She and her family have been residents of Michigan since 1993 where she offers her services to the disadvantaged, not only at Clear Choices, but also at other area agencies. Of quiet and firm demeanor, Dr. Qadir is competent in her field and is well liked by all her clients. In her spare time, she and her family like to travel throughout the US and Canada.
Karen Young, Ph.D., is a fully licensed Ph.D. psychologist who works as an independent consultant as well as manages her own private practice in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Her area of specialty is cognitive, achievement and personality testing with children, adolescent, and adults. Dr. Young attended Michigan State University where she obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1997.
She enjoys working with clients using the cognitive behavioral treatment approach as she believes that if she can help others change their thinking, they can improve how they fell and behave. Dr. Young enjoys spending time with her children and family as well as baking desserts.
Arthur E. Nowlin, MSW/CSW, has been an integral part of the staff at Clear Choices Counseling Services since 2002. As a licensed social worker, his passion for family wellness has driven him to be involved in various aspects of the mental health arena.
In 1981, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Education, and in 1996, his Masters of Social Work from Wayne State University. In addition, he is a Certified HIV Counselor and Level I Addiction Counselor, and has received notable recognition for his work in the Detroit community. Employing a unique soft-spoken charisma, his response to those he encounters has promoted restoration and reconciliation to countless number of individuals and families.
Away from the clinical environment, he also serves as Deputy Director of Kim Logan Communications, Inc. and is co-founder of Prevention Christian Family Counseling Clinic in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Nowlin has co-hosted several radio and cable television broadcasts, authored his first book, and is currently working on other techniques to address healing and restoration to families. His work has been featured in “Essence” magazine and in the Michigan Chronicle.
Leisure activities include public speaking, short story writing, travel with family, and grilling salmon for gatherings of family and friends. His top choice for leisure and relaxation however, is golfing. An avid and passionate golfer, Mr. Nowlin considers his yearly excursions to Myrtle Beach and Alabama “living the good life”.
Daisy Briggs Aldridge, M.A., graduated from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology (previously Center for Humanistic Studies) in 1997 where she received her Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology.
MS. Aldridge enjoys working with families and gained much experience as the previous owner of Day Ease Christian Day Care. She has worked as a Clinical Therapist on a Contractual level at Metro Detroit area agencies.
Ms. Aldridge believes her call in life is to help open the heart and minds of others to a loving and healthier walk in life. She has served her community for over 15 years in teen, marriage and family therapy.
During her spare time, she has a passion for writing poetry and short stories. She also enjoys traveling abroad.
